Acupuncture & Women's Health Clinic in Dorking

A deeply warming and restorative treatment created especially for the colder months.
The Winter Warming Ritual brings together therapeutic massage, heated basalt stones, traditional mugwort moxibustion and soothing infrared warmth to help release muscular tension, encourage circulation and allow the body to settle into deep relaxation.
A treatment for those days when your body simply wants to feel warm, relaxed and looked after.
The ritual begins with a flowing therapeutic massage, tailored to your body and focusing particularly on areas of tension, tightness and stiffness.
Massage helps soften tired muscles, encourage circulation and gradually prepare the body for the deeper warmth that follows.
Smooth, heated basalt stones are incorporated into the massage, combining therapeutic touch with gentle, sustained heat.
The stones retain warmth beautifully, allowing heat to penetrate into tired, tense muscles. This can help muscles relax more deeply, ease feelings of stiffness and create an immediate sense of comfort and wellbeing.
Moxibustion, or moxa, is one of the traditional warming therapies of Chinese medicine. It uses dried mugwort (Artemisia) to create a gentle and deeply comforting warmth over carefully selected areas of the body.
In Chinese medicine, moxa has traditionally been used to warm the channels, encourage the movement of Qi and Blood and dispel Cold. It is particularly suited to the colder months and to people who tend to feel cold, stiff or depleted.
The gentle warmth can also help relax areas of muscular tension, soothe stiffness and encourage local circulation, while creating a wonderfully calming sensation throughout the body.
Mugwort is traditionally associated with warming and supporting Yang, making moxa a beautiful addition to a winter ritual centred around warmth, restoration and conserving the body's energy during the colder season.
The treatment is complemented by the gentle, sustained heat of an infrared lamp.
Infrared lamp can help increase local blood flow, ease muscular tension and stiffness and encourage relaxation. It is particularly comforting during the winter months, when muscles can naturally feel tighter and the body may take longer to warm up.
The infrared warmth also helps the body remain comfortably warm after the massage and hot-stone work rather than cooling down immediately.
Together, moxa and infrared therapy provide two complementary forms of heat: the focused, traditional warmth of mugwort and the gentle, sustained warmth of infrared therapy.
The Winter Warming Ritual is particularly lovely during autumn and winter for anyone experiencing coldness, muscular tension, stiffness, tiredness or stress, or simply craving a deeply comforting treatment during the colder, darker months.
You don't need to have a particular problem to enjoy it. Sometimes the body simply needs warmth, touch and rest.
